A look back of 2008 ceramic sanitary ware report

December 14th, 2010

==《Global Sources》
Weakening demand from the US and higher operating expenses have triggered a slowdown in China’s exports of ceramic sanitaryware.
Trade statistics for January to July 2008 show that volume of outbound shipments dropped 3 percent over the same period in 2007. Export value rose by a marginal 9 percent, driven primarily by the continuous upswing in prices.
As such, projections for the next six to 12 months are cautious. In fact, most suppliers surveyed by Global Sources have pegged growth at 10 to 20 percent. This is in contrast to forecasts in 2006 when China’s ceramic sanitaryware industry was first analyzed. At that time, about 40 percent of respondents predicted that export sales would increase by more than 20 percent.
The slowing economy in the US is the main factor hampering growth. In recent months, demand for various construction supplies, including ceramic sanitaryware, dropped due to the subprime crisis there.
Escalating fuel, material and labor expenditure is compounding the situation. Many suppliers are, therefore, switching from coal to natural gas to power kilns, a shift estimated to lower outlay by as much as 20 percent. In addition, companies are procuring materials in bulk when costs are low or stable to guard against fluctuations.
The following are some of the key trends we see in China’s ceramic sanitaryware export industry:
- Prices will rise further in the next six months as surging production costs continue to squeeze margins. Some makers will push up quotes by 15 percent, although many will limit increases to stay competitive
- Makers are improving operations to control spending and boost efficiency and, consequently, keep upward price adjustments to a minimum
- Suppliers are projecting modest growth amid higher prices. Exports will continue to go primarily to the US and the EU
- Amid growing concern over the environment, new models will feature water-efficient mechanisms. Aesthetics will also get a boost as suppliers introduce basins in novelty shapes
Toilets, urinals and bidets, and washbasins are the two biggest ceramic sanitaryware categories in China, while bathtubs manufacture is quite limited. This updated report covers all three product lines.
The Products & Prices section details the construction and key specifications of each ceramic sanitaryware classification. Differences in casting, glazing and firing, the main criteria distinguishing low-end, midrange and high-end products, are discussed in the section as well.

Industry Overview
After registering strong growth rates annually beginning the early 2000s, China’s exports of ceramic sanitaryware are showing signs of a slowdown.
According to customs statistics for January to July 2008, shipments exceeded $440 million, slightly topping exports in the same period last year, which reached nearly $406 million. This represents an increase of only 9 percent, which is remarkably different from the situation four years ago when revenue soared 50 percent.
In fact, up until 2006, both export value and volume were averaging more than 40 percent growth annually. In 2007, however, sales rose only 16 percent while volume went up 8 percent.
This comes as suppliers faced several difficulties hampering further expansion abroad, foremost of which is dropping demand from the US, while protecting margins against surging production outlay.
Absorbing as much as one-third of shipments annually, the US continues to be China’s largest market for ceramic sanitaryware.
The slowing of the economy there, however, has resulted in a subprime crisis, practically putting a halt to the real estate and housing boom. This has already affected several of China’s exporting industries heavily reliant on construction, including ceramic sanitaryware.
Trade figures support this observation. In the seven months ending July 2008, China’s exports to the US dropped nearly 15 percent in terms of volume. There was, however, no drastic decrease in value as suppliers turned to upscale product lines that fetched higher prices to prop up sales.
Even so, the US will continue to be a key market for China-made ceramic sanitaryware in the months ahead.
To protect against further losses, suppliers are modifying or becoming stricter with payment and delivery terms for buyers there.
Changes include the shortening of shipping lead times, particularly significant in light of the continuous appreciation of the yuan against the dollar. This is because makers lose about 5 percent profit between order and delivery due to the stronger local currency alone.
In addition, many suppliers are requiring a down payment of as much as 60 percent prior to shipment and have started quoting prices in euros.
Further, companies are boosting exports to the EU and exploring alternative markets such as South America and Africa.

The Medicine Behind a Corner Whirlpool Bathtub

August 26th, 2010

Not anymore, with today’s technology; a whirlpool is within reach and available in a corner whirlpool bathtub model.  The space saving design of the corner whirlpool bathtub allows it to fit in some of the smallest bathrooms.

The medical benefits of a whirlpool bathtub are numerous. It is easiest to take a look at the benefit of water therapy to your body systems. Since the body functions as a system this would make the most sense.

Musculoskeletal system -This system involves your bones and muscles.  Tension in your muscles is a source of excruciating pain such as headaches and back pain.  Water massage in a corner whirlpool bathtub may help eliminate this tension and reduce pain levels.

Circulatory system -This generally is referring to the blood vessels that supply your limbs (arms and legs) with oxygen rich blood.  Time spent in a corner whirlpool bathtub can help promote healthy circulation.

Cardiovascular System -The heart and the blood vessels supply it are so important there is a special system for it, although it is part of the circulatory system.  The benefits of improved circulation may benefit the heart.  Those with known cardiovascular problems should consult a doctor prior to using a corner whirlpool bath tub.

Central Nervous System -The central nervous system is a complex network of the brain, the spinal cord, nerves, and nerve receptors.  Continually stimulation by water over the skin can have a numbing effect on pain nerve receptors.  Pleasurable experiences stimulate endorphins, your body’s own natural pain reliever.   A great deal of research has been done on how much of an impact increased endorphin levels have on pain relief. If you are suffering from pain; a corner whirlpool hydromassage bathtub may be helpful to you.

Endocrine System -The body releases hormones in response to increased stress levels.  These hormones are responsible for the body’s ability to be in fight or flight status, which put the body on high alert all the time.  This may cause serious health problems, even death.  Hydrotherapy is a proven method of relaxation when utilized properly.   A corner whirlpool bathtub puts a relaxing water therapy massage as close as your bathroom.  No health insurance required.

This is just a short list of the health benefits of owning a whirlpool bathtub.  The medical benefits were the original reason for inventing the whirlpool.  A man named Jacuzzi created the invention to help alleviate the pain experienced by his toddler age son who had rheumatoid arthritis.  This was almost one hundred years ago.  The Jacuzzi name is now synonymous with whirlpools of all kinds including the whirlpool bathtub.  This invention has sparked an entire industry built around it.

The corner whirlpool bathtub does have an increased price tag over a conventional corner bathtub.  While it will not replace regular medical care;  this additional cost can well be worth the investment if you add the medical benefits.

Choosing the Right Bath Screen

August 19th, 2010

If you’re like me, you probably think shower curtains are a hassle. They are a pain to move around; they easily get dirty and full of mildew; and if you don’t use them right, you end up with water everywhere. If you’re thinking there has to be a better way; you’re right. A bath screen is a glass or plastic piece that fits onto the side of your shower and blocks the water just like a curtain would. The benefit is that they’re much easier to use and keep clean. They also work better if you have a really strong shower spray.

There are several different types of bath screens, and it’s important that you choose the right one. The first type is a full bath enclosure. This is similar to a typical sliding shower door; except it goes around your entire bathtub. They are easily cleaned and block water from escaping better than a shower curtain. You should get this type of screen if you have flooring that can’t get wet or a bathtub that is no enclosed by walls on three sides.

If a big bulky frame isn’t your thing, you should look at frameless over-bath screens. These screens are for baths that are surrounded on three sides. They cover the half of open side that the shower is on. They’re more visually appealing than traditional bath screens because they don’t have big metal frames. The problem I with these screens is that water can splash around the outside or through spaces between the screen and the tub. These screens are best for bathrooms with tile or flooring that won’t get water damaged. Frameless screens are available fixed, or with a hinge so they can open and close.

The previous types of screens generally work best in larger bathrooms because they can take up a lot of space and seem too big in a small area. For smaller bathrooms, you should consider a folding multi-panel screen. These can be pushed up and stored in a small area by your tub, or pulled out to cover the same space as a frameless screen. This way they only take up space when you’re using them.

Hopefully you’ve learned a lot and are ready to go out and find the perfect screen to improve your bathroom. Here will be your choice: www.bathroom-sanitary-ware.com

The Basics of Freestanding Acrylic Bathtubs

August 8th, 2010

The Basics of Freestanding Acrylic Bathtubs

If you are thinking of remodeling your bathroom and need a few ideas, you may want to consider freestanding acrylic bathtubs. There are now more colors and shapes to choose from than ever before. Although freestanding acrylic bathtubs have been widely out of use during the last few decades, recent nostalgic trends have made them popular once again. Now there are more different styles to choose from instead of the white, cast iron bathtub that used to be your only choice. This article will provide you with a few things to take into consideration when you are in the market for this type of tub. We will also take a look at acrylic corner bathtubs which are a relatively new style of tub which is perfect for those who are trying to maximize the space they have available in their homes.

When considering which style of freestanding acrylic bathtubs you are interested in you can either go for a more authentic nostalgic look, or something that is more modern. The choice is entirely up to you, but try to find something that will look nice in your home and will match the overall decor scheme.

One thing to keep in mind about freestanding acrylic bathtubs is that they require slightly more space than traditional western tubs. So one of the first things you should do is measure the space you have available in your bathroom and see what you have to work with. When selecting a tub that will fit you will have to take into consideration the space you need for the plumbing and the base mount if you will be using one.

You should also consider the shape of tub that you think will go best in your bathroom. The classic oval shape will be best if you are going for a more traditional look, but there are also square, rectangle, and round varieties available if you would like to try something a little different.

Freestanding acrylic bathtubs are very lightweight which makes moving and installing them a lot easier than the cast iron bathtubs. They also offer excellent thermal insulation so your bath water will stay nice and warm for longer periods of time, even during the winter. They are subject to being scratched, but when this occurs you are usually able to buff them out, unless they are very deep. When cleaning, be careful which products and soaps you use and do not use anything with harsh chemicals such as acetates.

There are many benefits to choosing acrylic corner bathtubs as well because by fitting conveniently in the corner they really save space. This is perfect if you have a smaller size bathroom and are trying to fit a full sized tub. They are also nice and deep so you will usually be able to soak up to your shoulders comfortably, unlike the standard Western tubs that are very difficult for adults to fit in.

A Steam Shower and Sauna: Is it for You?

May 17th, 2010

Steam showers have been a popular way of bathing and showering for thousands of years. They were known to the ancient Greeks and have long traditions in both Turkey and Russia.

hydromassage cabin

Today, steam showers can be found in many spas and gyms. They are also becoming increasingly popular for home installation. Thanks to recent developments in steam generator technology steam shower cabins can be installed in almost any residential bathroom.

Often we hear the terms hydromassage cabin and sauna room. Do they mean the same thing? Strictly speaking, a steam shower cabin is an shower enclosure which is kept at about 45°C. It is fed with a steam generator which produces thick clouds of mist. The shower cabin has to be fairly well sealed to prevent the steam from escaping and also to prevent moisture damage to the surrounding structure. A steam shower room is basically on a smaller scale. It is usually big enough for one or two people and can be installed in a standard shower stall. Steam shower cabins are often used for residential steam baths.

However, a sauna is actually a different type of bath. A Finnish sauna produces a dry heat and is much hotter than a steam shower cabin. Saunas are usually heated between 70°C and 100°C. Steam is produced in a sauna by pouring water over hot rocks, but usually the air is quite dry — around 20% humidity as compared to 100% humidity in a steam shower cabin.

Many people would like to have a steam shower cabin installed in their house but are concerned about the build-up of humidity. If you have a fairly modern bathroom with an enclosed shower stall, you can easily install a hydromassage cabin without any concerns about excess humidity.

The steam shower cabin has to be an enclosed unit to contain the moisture and to allow it to drain off. If you don’t have an enclosed shower stall or bathtub, existing bathtubs can be modified to accommodate a steam shower room. If you have a large bathroom, the other alternative is to install a separate steam shower cabin.

The steam generator does not have to be in the bathroom. It can be installed up to 40 feet away from the hydromassage cabin. The generator needs an adequate electrical connection, and some models also need to be connected to a drain.

The steam generator is connected to a steam head which is installed in the steam shower itself. Some steam heads have built in controls while others are controlled with an external unit. It is more convenient to have the control inside the steam shower cabins itself so that you can make adjustments as needed.

Since steam cabins are so relaxing you will likely spend more time there than in a normal shower. This means you should also install some kind of seating arrangement. The steam heads should be installed away from the seating area so that the possibility of being scalded with the hot steam is reduced.

All of this installation work requires specialized plumbing and electrical skills. Before making the decision to install a steam shower cabin in your house, consult with both a plumber and an electrician to see if it is feasible. They will also be able to give you an estimate of the cost involved.

The Health Benefits of Steam Showers

May 17th, 2010

The benefits of steam showers have been known for thousands of years. Hippocrates believed fever could cure almost any disease, and massage baths, steam showers and saunas have been used for creating ‘artificial’ fevers since at least the time of Hippocrates.

steam shower, shower cabin

While massage baths, steam showers and saunas are therapeutic, the high moisture content of the steam shower cabin is especially useful for respiratory problems like bronchitis, asthma, and allergies. It is also helpful for cleaning and toning the skin. The large amount of perspiration created by massage baths ,steam shower cabins, saunas makes the skin soft and supple, and leaves the bathers feeling invigorated and refreshed.

Special Benefits of Steam showers

We noted that the steam showers is useful for respiratory problems. This is because steam can clear allergens and mucus from the lungs. For generations, doctors have recommended breathing steam for all kinds of respiratory problems. The steam shower cabin provides a higher concentration of steam than a vaporizer, giving even greater benefits to those with breathing problems.

Steam soothes breathing passages by increasing the moisture content in the lungs, throat and nose. Anyone suffering from the discomfort of asthma or the common cold can find relief by spending time in a steam showers.

It should be noted, however, that the sauna bath is not a cure for respiratory diseases. It simply provides relief from the symptoms, but this is enough for most sufferers to return to the steam showers repeatedly.

Skin

Nothing is better for the skin than a heavy sweat. Dermatologists recognize the value of steam in creating a beautiful, healthy glow. Heavy sweating cleanses the skin more thoroughly than soap and water because it opens the pores and allows deep-seated grime and dead cells to be flushed out. In addition, a steam shower improves blood circulation to the skin and this contributes to a healthy, glowing appearance.

Pain Relief

Heat is an effective treatment for muscular pain. A steam shower after a physical workout is a good way to speed up the healing process of injured tissues and muscles. Heat causes the blood vessels to expand which increases the circulation, allowing more oxygen to reach damaged parts of the body. This has the double effect of reducing pain and increasing the healing rate.

Relaxation

Deep rest is one of the most therapeutic ways to heal the body. Our modern life is filled with daily stress, which can build up and cause stress related illnesses like high blood pressure and hypertension. A steam shower room is a great way to unwind and relieve the stress of the day. The heat of the steam causes the muscles to relax, and the steam provides a soothing atmosphere for calming the mind.

You will find that a steam shower before bed is a great way to promote deep restful sleep. You emerge from the steam shower feeling relaxed and calm. When taken as part of your daily routine, the steam shower has tremendous benefits for your health and your state of mind.
